Crystal Palace have joined the pursuit of Strasbourg striker Emanuel Emegha, who has also attracted interest from Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window.
With Jean-Philippe Mateta potentially leaving Selhurst Park, the Eagles are keen to reinforce their attacking options, and Emegha has emerged as a prime candidate.
Born in the Netherlands to a Togolese father and Nigerian mother, Emegha has impressed this season, netting 14 goals in 27 Ligue 1 appearances.
The 22-year-old’s physicality and finishing ability have made him one of the standout young forwards in French football, drawing the attention of several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, who share an ownership link with Strasbourg.
However, despite Chelsea’s interest, Emegha may prefer a move to Palace, where he is more likely to secure regular first-team football.
The London club are reportedly ready to offer him a starting role, making it a more enticing prospect than potentially playing second fiddle to established stars at Stamford Bridge.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are also monitoring other attacking talents, including RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, as they continue their policy of investing in young prospects.
Palace see Emegha as a natural replacement for Mateta, who has been prolific this season with 17 goals and four assists in 43 appearances.
Should Mateta move on, Emegha’s arrival could provide the Eagles with a powerful forward option capable of leading their line in the Premier League.
