Cristiano Ronaldo to miss Al Nassr’s first two matches after wedding

Cristiano Ronaldo will miss Al Nassr’s opening two matches of the new season after being given additional time away from the club following his wedding, according to Saudi newspaper Al Riyadiyah.

The Portuguese forward and Al Nassr captain married Argentine model Georgina Rodriguez on Tuesday. He is now expected to return to training with the Riyadh-based club in the coming days, but will not be available for either of the team’s first two fixtures.

Al Nassr begin their campaign against Al Fateh on Saturday, as they start their defence of the Saudi Pro League title. Three days later, they face Al-Diriyah in the round of 32 of the King Cup.

Both matches are scheduled to take place in the Saudi capital, but Ronaldo will not feature in either game.

The 41-year-old was absent from Al Nassr’s pre-season preparations after being granted an extended holiday. His time away followed his involvement with Portugal at the 2026 World Cup, after which he did not join the club’s training programme for the new campaign.

Ronaldo used the additional break to complete his marriage to Rodriguez before preparing to return to Al Nassr’s squad.

His absence means Al Nassr will begin their title defence without the player who captains the side, with the club’s first opportunity to see him in competitive action coming after the opening league fixture against Al Fateh and the King Cup tie against Al-Diriyah.

The timing of Ronaldo’s return remains linked to his arrival back at training, but Al Nassr are due to begin the season this weekend and then play again in the capital three days later. The club will therefore have to start their campaign without their Portuguese captain as they seek to retain the Saudi Pro League crown.

Ronaldo’s extended break came after he completed his international commitments at the 2026 World Cup. He then took advantage of the period away from football to marry Rodriguez, before planning his return to the club in the days ahead.
