Cristiano Ronaldo confirms marriage to Georgina Rodriguez after years together
Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that he and Georgina Rodriguez are married after completing a civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal.
The Al-Nassr forward and Rodriguez formalised their long-term relationship at a private family event attended by their five children. The ceremony marks a new stage for the couple, who have been together for several years and announced their engagement around a year ago.
Ronaldo chose not to issue a lengthy statement about the wedding. Instead, the Portugal captain shared a photograph of the couple’s wedding rings on Instagram, accompanied by the initials “C❤️G”.
A representative for Ronaldo later confirmed that the ceremony had taken place and that the couple were now legally husband and wife.
“Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez got married today in a civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, and are now officially husband and wife,” the representative said, in comments reported by the Daily Mail.
The representative added that the occasion was “private and family-oriented”, with the couple’s five children present as they marked the event together.
The marriage follows years of public association between Ronaldo and Rodriguez, who has accompanied the footballer through a significant part of the latter stages of his career. The couple have now formalised their relationship after previously confirming their plans to marry.
Ronaldo, the Saudi club’s star player, made the announcement in a deliberately understated way, choosing an image of the rings and the couple’s initials rather than details of the ceremony or a wider public celebration.
The Cascais event was attended by close family members, with the presence of the couple’s children reflecting the private nature of the occasion. The ceremony brings an official conclusion to a relationship that has remained a prominent part of Ronaldo’s life away from football.
Their engagement had been announced approximately one year before the wedding, paving the way for the couple to move into a new stage of their relationship.
Rodriguez has been alongside Ronaldo during much of his recent playing career, while the Portugal international has continued to feature as one of the most recognisable figures in world football. Their decision to marry formally completes a process that began with their long-standing partnership and later engagement.
