Cristiano Ronaldo Leaves Door Open for Manchester United Return
Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that a return to Manchester United could be possible in the future, though he remains focused on his current role at Real Madrid.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror ahead of Manchester United’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid on Saturday, the Portuguese star reflected warmly on his time at Old Trafford.
“Obviously, Manchester is one of my favourite clubs,” Ronaldo said. “I had a great time there, I was 18, I won everything, people treated me like a god, so I enjoyed it.”
The 29-year-old striker fondly recalled his emotional return to Old Trafford as a Real Madrid player in March 2013. “It was crazy. The fans impressed me. My heart was so happy. I appreciate this club. For me, it’s one of the best in the world and I feel passionate about this club.”
When asked about the possibility of rejoining United, Ronaldo remained non-committal but open to the idea. “I’ll never forget it, I had so much fun. I love Manchester. Coming back one day? I don’t know, you never know. In football, you never know.”
Despite leaving the door ajar, Ronaldo stressed his contentment with life at Real Madrid, where he is under contract until 2018. “Of course, I’m happy at Real Madrid, it’s my home, it’s my club. But Manchester treated me incredibly, so you never know.”
Ronaldo’s comments come amid ongoing speculation about his future, but for now, the focus remains on the Champions League showdown between the two clubs where he first rose to global prominence.
