CRISIS: Zamalek unsettled debts skyrocket to $4m
Zamalek Club has been hit with another setback as FIFA has imposed an additional transfer ban, marking the 13th financial case registered against the Egyptian giants amid ongoing monetary struggles.
The latest sanction stems from unpaid fees to Moroccan side Ittihad Tanger over the transfer of midfielder Abdelhamid Maali, which remain unsettled.
Zamalek’s mounting financial obligations include:
- Former goalkeeping coach Luis Vicente Castro: $20,000
- Assistant coach João Miguel Guedes: $20,000
- Assistant coach André Stefan Piqué: $20,000
- Former coach Christian Gross: $133,000
- Former coach Jose Gomes: $120,000
- Former player Ferjani Sassi: $505,000 (final ruling)
- Estrella Amadora (Chico Panza transfer): $800,000
- Charleroi (Oday Dabbagh transfer): €170,000
- Renaissance Zemamra (Salah Mossadek transfer): $250,000
- Oleksandria (Juan Bezerra transfer): $800,000
- Former player Ibrahima Ndiaye: $1.6 million
- Saint-Étienne (Mahmoud Bentayk transfer): €500,000
- Ittihad Tanger (Abdelhamid Maali transfer): $350,000
These accumulated debts pose a serious challenge for Zamalek’s management. Unless the club clears these dues promptly, the registration bans could continue, potentially hampering plans to reinforce the squad in upcoming transfer windows.
