Gagoua asserted his position as the president of the Africa handball section and clarified that he has the support of Vagba Alexis, the Chairman of the Board of Directors. The conflict revolves around the club’s bank accounts, and Gagoua aimed to shed light on the situation.
He explained the history of the handball section’s bank account, emphasizing its autonomy. Gagoua denied any wrongdoing in accessing the account and questioned whether he needed to forge someone’s signature. He also highlighted a loan he granted to Koné Cheik Oumar, which remains unpaid.
According to Gagoua, Koné Cheik Oumar requested financial assistance to pay players, and Gagoua provided 25 million FCFA. However, Koné Cheik Oumar has not repaid the loan to date. Gagoua argued that it is Koné Cheik Oumar who should provide financial support to the handball section, as he allegedly never financed the club’s handball activities.
The dispute has escalated to legal action, with both parties considering legal recourse. Koné Cheik Oumar has already taken the matter to the Ivorian courts, and the club’s PCA (Conseil d’Administration) has filed a complaint against Vagba Alexis, Paul Gogoua, and Kanga Rovia for forgery and embezzlement.
Despite the internal turmoil, the upcoming match between Africa Sports and Sporting Club of Gagnoa is expected to proceed as scheduled on the 21st matchday.
