Crescencio Summerville injury puts Al Hilal appearance against Al Taawoun in doubt

Crescencio Summerville is a doubt for Al Hilal’s Saudi Pro League match against Al Taawoun on Saturday because of an injury, according to Saudi newspaper Al Yaum.

Al Hilal will travel to face Al Taawoun in the seventh round of the league, with Summerville’s availability expected to depend on the results of medical examinations he is due to undergo in the coming hours.

The Netherlands winger appeared to experience the problem after Al Hilal’s latest match, a 2-0 defeat by Neom in the sixth round of the Saudi Pro League. The loss ended a run of five successive victories for the club at the start of the season.

Summerville was seen leaving the stadium walking with difficulty and holding his left thigh. His condition immediately raised concerns over whether he would be fit to take part in Al Hilal’s next fixture, although the precise nature of the injury has not yet been confirmed.

The forthcoming medical assessment will establish the extent of the problem and provide a clearer indication of how long Summerville could be unavailable. Until those tests have been completed, his participation against Al Taawoun remains uncertain.

Al Hilal will be looking to respond after their unexpected setback against Neom, when they were beaten by two unanswered goals. The defeat came after the side had won each of their first five matches of the campaign.

Summerville’s potential absence would leave Al Hilal waiting for further information before finalising their plans for Saturday’s contest. The Dutch forward’s status will be determined by the medical findings, which are expected to clarify whether he can return in time for the seventh-round fixture.

For now, there has been no confirmation of the length of any possible absence. The examinations will decide whether the issue is serious enough to rule Summerville out or whether he can be considered for selection against Al Taawoun.

The match is therefore set to be preceded by particular attention on the winger’s fitness, following the visible discomfort he showed after the defeat by Neom. Al Hilal’s medical team will assess him before a final decision is made on his involvement.
