CR Belouizdad kept the pressure on league leaders Mouloudia of Algiers with a crucial 2-0 victory over US Biskra in the Algerian Professional League.
The first half saw both teams struggle to find the back of the net, with chances wasted at both ends. However, the deadlock was finally broken in the 63rd minute when Ayman Mahyis struck to give Belouizdad the lead.
As Biskra pushed desperately for an equalizer, their hopes were dashed in stoppage time when Mohamed Islam sealed the win with a late goal, securing all three points for Belouizdad.
The victory lifts Belouizdad to 32 points, just two behind Mouloudia, who face CS Constantine on Friday. Meanwhile, Biskra’s winless streak stretches to over four months, leaving them stuck at the bottom of the table with 14 points.
CR Belouizdad will take on 8th place El Bayadh on Thursday. After the game against El Bayadh on Thursday CR Belouizdad will play 3rd place USM Alger on March 7th.
