Coventry City confirm Aurele Amenda signing from Eintracht Frankfurt
Coventry City have officially announced the signing of defender Aurele Amenda from Eintracht Frankfurt, handing the 22-year-old a long-term deal as they prepare for life in the Premier League.
The centre-back arrives after spending the last two seasons in Frankfurt’s first team, gaining valuable experience in the Bundesliga and European competition.
Earlier reports indicate Amenda has committed to Frank Lampard’s side until 2030, with Eintracht receiving a fee of around £17 million for the transfer. After signing, Amenda spoke of his delight at the move, saying he feels it is a “privilege” to join Coventry and that the project sold to him during his first conversation with the manager immediately inspired trust and excitement.
He described himself as a defender who relishes protecting his goal but is also calm on the ball, confident he can help the team by building play from the back. Amenda stressed his hunger to win, to support the club’s ambitions and to connect with supporters at Coventry’s home ground, adding that he cannot wait to meet his new teammates and celebrate victories with the fans.
