AS Cannes caused a major upset in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France by securing a victory in extra time, thanks to Moroccan player Belkacem Zoniri’s stunning goal in the 119th minute (1-0).
Despite dominating PSG in the previous round, Montpellier faced difficulties finding the net on a muddy pitch in Cannes. Their chances of scoring earlier in the match were hampered when Mbaye Niang missed a penalty, hitting the post.
Throughout regulation time, Montpellier struggled to break through Cannes’ defense, resulting in a tense and tightly contested match.
