With less than a year remaining until the kickoff of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 in Morocco, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed a significant sponsorship agreement for the upcoming tournament.
CAF announced on its official social media channels this week that it has extended its partnership with the National Lottery of Côte d’Ivoire (Lonaci) as an official sponsor for AFCON 2025, which will be held from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
This extension marks the continuation of a fruitful relationship between CAF and Lonaci, which began during the successful AFCON 2023 tournament in Côte d’Ivoire earlier this year.
The partnership was further solidified during the CAF Women’s Champions League held in November 2024, underscoring the growing collaboration between the African football governing body and the Ivorian sponsor.
The sponsorship deal with Lonaci comes at a time when CAF is also preparing to secure its main sponsor for AFCON 2025.
TotalEnergies, a long-standing partner since 2016, has been the primary sponsor for several major CAF competitions, including the Africa Cup of Nations, as well as youth tournaments such as the U-17, U-20, and U-23 categories, the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, and the African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Additionally, TotalEnergies has been a key sponsor for CAF’s interclub tournaments, including the CAF Champions League, CAF Cup, and the African Super Cup.
However, with TotalEnergies’ eight-year sponsorship agreement set to conclude in 2024, the future of this partnership remains uncertain.
It has yet to be confirmed whether the French oil giant will renew its contract with CAF.
The uncertainty surrounding the renewal of this major sponsorship has left stakeholders eagerly awaiting further developments as CAF looks to secure its primary backer for the 2025 edition of the prestigious tournament.
The confirmation of Lonaci’s continued involvement in the tournament is seen as a positive step for CAF as it builds momentum ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which promises to showcase the continent’s best football talent.
As Morocco prepares to host the tournament, all eyes will be on CAF’s efforts to finalize its sponsorship agreements, ensuring the competition’s success both on and off the field.
