The Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) has announced a bustling schedule for the rest of 2024, highlighting an array of competitions across various categories. The end of the year promises to be even more eventful than the first half, with six major tournaments lined up.

The first event on the calendar is the qualifying tournament for the CAF Women’s Champions League, set to take place in Malawi from August 15 to 24, 2024.

This tournament will see top women’s football teams from the region compete for a coveted spot in the continental championship.

In October, attention will turn to the COSAFA Women’s Championship, which will be hosted in South Africa from October 22 to November 2, 2024.

This tournament follows the recent success of the men’s championship, won by Angola in South Africa.

The women’s teams will now vie for regional supremacy on the same stage.

COSAFA’s commitment to youth development is evident in the schedule, with several age-category qualifying tournaments planned.

The U17 AFCON qualifiers for both boys and girls will be held in Mozambique from December 5 to 15, 2024.

These tournaments will not only showcase emerging talent but also determine which teams advance to the continental stage.

The regional qualifiers for the CAF African School Football Championship will take place from September 5 to 8, 2024, on the Namibian coast.

This competition will feature the best U15 boys and girls from Southern Africa, competing for a chance to reach the continental finals.

South Africa, the reigning African champions in the women’s category, will be looking to defend their title.

Additionally, the U20 AFCON qualifiers are slated for September 25 to October 6, 2024.

This competition will provide a platform for young players to display their skills and earn a spot in the prestigious U20 Africa Cup of Nations.

COSAFA’s calendar for the remainder of 2024 underscores the organization’s dedication to promoting football at all levels.

The diverse range of tournaments not only highlights the talent within the region but also provides ample opportunities for players to compete at higher levels.

As these events unfold, they will undoubtedly contribute to the growth and development of football in Southern Africa.

Fans can look forward to a thrilling series of competitions, showcasing the best of the region’s football talent and fostering the next generation of stars.
