The Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) has officially pledged its full support for Andrew Kamanga, President of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), in his bid for a place on the FIFA Council.

The decision was made during a meeting of the COSAFA Member Association Presidents in Rabat, Morocco, on January 27, 2025.

Kamanga’s candidacy has gained significant momentum, with FIFA’s Review Committee declaring him eligible to contest in the elections set to take place at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Extraordinary General Assembly in Cairo on March 12, 2025.

He is vying for one of five available seats allocated to CAF representatives on the FIFA Council.

COSAFA has expressed confidence in Kamanga’s leadership, acknowledging his contributions to Zambian football, as well as his impact at the regional and continental levels.

His experience within the Southern African football community and his engagement with CAF and FIFA initiatives make him a strong contender for the prestigious role.

The endorsement from COSAFA signifies trust in Kamanga’s ability to advocate for the interests of African football on the global stage.

If elected, he would play a crucial role in shaping policies and advancing the development of the game worldwide.
