Çorum FK target Egypt forward Mostafa Mohamed ahead of new season
Newly promoted Turkish Super Lig outfit Çorum FK have set sights on securing the services of Egyptian attacker Mostafa Mohamed ahead of the new campaign.
The forward, who currently plays for French club FC Nantes, is understood to be among the top attacking names on Çorum’s shortlist as they prepare for life in the Turkish top flight following their promotion.
Çorum secured their place in the league after a 2-0 victory over Erukspor in the promotion playoff final, marking a significant step forward in the club’s ambitions. With top-flight survival and consolidation now the priority, the Turkish side are actively targeting experienced players with proven records in European competition.
Mohamed’s profile is seen as a strong fit due to his prior success in Turkish football, having previously impressed during his spell with Galatasaray. His performances in Istanbul helped establish his reputation as a physical, mobile and clinical striker capable of adapting quickly to the demands of the Super Lig.
However, his future at Nantes remains uncertain following a difficult campaign for the French club, which saw them struggle and face increased scrutiny over squad planning. That situation has opened the door for potential departures, with several players now linked with moves away as the club reassesses its direction.
Mohamed’s omission from Egypt’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad has also added further attention to his situation. Head coach Hossam Hassan opted for younger options in attack, including Barcelona youngster Hamza Abdel Karim, signalling a shift in the national team’s attacking hierarchy.
Despite that setback, Mohamed still retains a strong reputation at club level, particularly for his physical presence, movement in the box and experience in high-pressure matches. His previous success in Turkey continues to make him an attractive option for clubs seeking a proven striker.
Çorum’s interest reflects their intent to build a competitive squad capable of surviving and competing in the top division. The club’s recruitment strategy is expected to focus on players with European experience who can make an immediate impact.
While no official offer has been confirmed yet, Mohamed is expected to attract interest from multiple clubs this summer, with his situation at Nantes likely to be one of the stories to watch in the transfer window.
