Corentin Tolisso and Noah Nartey power Olympique Lyonnais to win over OGC Nice

Olympique Lyonnais maintained their remarkable momentum with a 2-0 home victory over OGC Nice at Parc Olympique Lyonnais, marking their thirteenth consecutive win across all competitions.

Corentin Tolisso and Noah Nartey were the match-winners as Les Gones strengthened their grip on third place in Ligue 1.

The first half was cagey, with neither side able to dominate possession, though Nice fashioned the clearer openings. Mohamed Ali-Cho’s early header from a corner found Kail Boudache in the six-yard box, but the substitute fired over the bar.

Ali-Cho later set up Sofiane Diop, only for Clinton Mata to block the effort, leaving Lyon untroubled.

Just before halftime, Lyon broke the deadlock. Pavel Sulc held up the ball expertly, waiting for support to launch a swift counter. Abner’s cross found Sulc, who nodded it on to captain Corentin Tolisso. The midfielder made no mistake, beating Maxime Dupe to give the hosts a 1-0 lead going into the break.

Nice began the second half with some intent, but Tom Louchet’s effort from close range was blocked by a wall of Lyon defenders. The home side soon settled, doubling their advantage in the 65th minute. Sulc once again drove forward, outpacing his marker before his cross found Danish-Ghanaian Nartey. Showing calm composure, Nartey created enough space to fire past Dupe, sealing the win.

Les Gones controlled the remainder of the match, limiting Nice to just two second-half shots and keeping their fourth clean sheet in five home league games.

The victory moved Lyon further ahead of rivals Marseille, who suffered a defeat, while Nice remain in 14th, six points clear of the relegation zone and having conceded the joint-second most goals in Ligue 1 this season.
