Copenhagen weigh move for Sundowns winger Thapelo Maseko

South African winger Thapelo Maseko, who plays for Mamelodi Sundowns, has been linked with a move to Copenhagen.

The 22-year-old right winger is the subject of transfer interest from the Danish Superliga club after returning to Sundowns at the end of last season. Maseko spent the second half of the 2025-26 campaign on loan at AEL Limassol before rejoining the South African champions in June.

Maseko has not yet made an appearance for Sundowns in the 2026-27 Betway Premiership or MTN8 campaigns. He did, however, feature three times for South Africa at the 2026 World Cup, starting 75% of his matches and scoring once.

He joined Sundowns from SuperSport United in July 2023 and has since been part of a side that won two successive South African titles. Sundowns also lifted the CAF Champions League in 2025-26, adding to Maseko’s honours since his arrival.

The left-footed attacker, born in Sebokeng, Gauteng, has a current market value of €1m. Copenhagen’s interest comes with Maseko back in the Sundowns squad following his loan spell, although the rumour does not indicate whether the clubs have entered formal negotiations.

Maseko remains a Sundowns player, with the club having brought him back from AEL Limassol after the temporary move ended.
