The Spanish Football Federation has postponed all 24 first-round Copa del Rey matches scheduled for Wednesday as a mark of respect for the victims of a fatal train crash in the province of Toledo.
The matches had been due to take place on Wednesday afternoon and evening.
In a statement, the federation said: “As a gesture of respect and solidarity with the victims of the tragic train accident that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday in the province of Toledo, we announce the postponement of the 24 first-round Copa del Rey matches scheduled for Wednesday afternoon and evening.”
New dates for the fixtures will be announced at a later time, the federation added.
At least 30 people were killed and dozens more injured when two high-speed trains collided. The crash happened about 130 kilometres south of Madrid.
The postponement will not affect Barcelona or Real Madrid, as both clubs begin their Copa del Rey campaigns in a later round.
