Richard Kule Mbombo concluded a standout season in Israeli football by scoring in Hapoel Acre’s 3-1 victory over Hapoel Nof HaGalil on the final day of the Liga Leumit relegation group stage.
The Congolese international found the net in the 54th minute to register his eighth goal since joining Hapoel Acre in January.
His contribution proved vital in helping the club secure top spot in the relegation group, ensuring their survival in Israel’s second division.
With this final strike, Mbombo’s season tally rose to 14 goals across all competitions.
Having started the campaign with Hapoel Afula, where he netted seven times, Mbombo made a mid-season switch to Hapoel Acre and continued his prolific form.
Across 37 appearances in total, his consistent goal-scoring played a central role in both clubs’ efforts throughout a challenging season.
The 27-year-old forward, who began his professional career with Racing Club de Kinshasa before going on to feature for AS Vita Club and clubs across Europe and Asia, has now completed his second season in Israeli football. His performances this year mark one of the most productive campaigns of his career.
“This was one of my best seasons,” Mbombo is reported to have said privately to those close to him, recognising his impact despite the pressure of a relegation battle.
His ability to adapt quickly to a new team midway through the season and maintain his scoring form has not gone unnoticed by observers within the league.
Hapoel Acre, buoyed by Mbombo’s goals and strong finish, topped the relegation group standings with 55 points. The result brings a positive end to their campaign, giving the club renewed optimism ahead of next season.
With safety secured, planning will now begin for a push toward promotion — a goal the club will likely pursue with added ambition.
Though contracted to stay with Acre next season, Mbombo’s future remains somewhat uncertain. His recent performances have raised his profile, and it is understood that the club may be open to discussions should a lucrative offer materialise. For now, however, he remains a key figure in their plans.
Mbombo’s success this season has underscored his growth as a forward. Once seen as a raw talent in DR Congo’s domestic league, he has evolved into a versatile and reliable striker capable of delivering under pressure. His movement off the ball, finishing instincts, and physical presence have made him a consistent threat in front of goal.
As the dust settles on the 2024–25 season, both player and club have reasons to reflect positively. Richard Kule Mbombo’s 14-goal haul stands not only as a personal milestone but also as a crucial element in Hapoel Acre’s survival — and potentially, a springboard to greater challenges ahead.
