Nicke Kabamba’s move to Bromley in January was expected to inject fresh firepower into the club’s attack, but the Congolese striker has yet to hit his stride since arriving from Barnet.
Despite his strong goal-scoring record prior to the switch, the 31-year-old is still searching for his first goal in a Bromley shirt after 13 appearances.
Kabamba arrived at the National League side with high expectations, having been in fine form at Barnet in the first half of the season.
However, his transition to his new club has proven more challenging than anticipated.
“It’s good to be part of an ambitious and successful team, to be promoted to the league where I played. Being a Football League club has made the club really attractive and it’s a good change, it’s good for my career,” Kabamba said after his transfer was confirmed.
A prolific past, a challenging present
The former Kilmarnock striker enjoyed the best season of his career last year, surpassing 25 goals.
He carried that form into the current campaign, netting 10 times in 18 matches for Barnet before making the move to Bromley.
However, his inability to get off the mark in his new surroundings has raised questions about his adaptation.
At 31, Kabamba remains an experienced and capable forward, but his chances of attracting interest from clubs in the top two divisions are becoming increasingly slim.
Despite this, securing a move to a League Two club was seen as a positive step, with hopes that he could replicate his Barnet goal-scoring exploits at Bromley.
While his early struggles may be a cause for concern, Kabamba has the opportunity to rediscover his form in the crucial weeks ahead.
If he can recapture his clinical touch in front of goal, he could still play a key role in Bromley’s ambitions for the season.
