Chadrac Akolo is edging closer to a move to Turkey following his departure from Swiss side St. Gallen, with newly promoted Gençlerbirliği SK leading the race for his signature.
The 30-year-old forward, who is now a free agent, enjoyed a productive final season in Switzerland, registering eight goals and seven assists in all competitions.
His consistent performances have sparked interest across the European football landscape, with both Turkish and Belgian clubs expressing a strong desire to secure his services.
Sources indicate that Gençlerbirliği, eager to bolster their squad after returning to the Turkish Super Lig, have made contact with the Congolese international’s representatives.
The Ankara-based club is said to be keen on adding experience and firepower to their attack ahead of the 2025–26 season and view Akolo as an ideal fit.
According to reports, they have tabled a two-year contract offer in a bid to persuade the forward to join their project.
“Chadrac Akolo recorded 8 goals and 7 assists in his last season with St. Gallen,” a source familiar with the negotiations noted. “He is currently free to commit to a new project, should he receive a good offer.”
While Turkey appears a likely destination, Akolo is also attracting attention from clubs in Belgium.
Those sides are reportedly monitoring the situation closely and could make a late move to lure the former VfB Stuttgart and FC Sion striker back to a more familiar league.
Akolo’s market value currently stands at €1.5 million, according to Transfermarkt, but his free-agent status gives him significant leverage in choosing his next club.
With his contract at St. Gallen having expired, the forward is expected to make a decision in the coming weeks.
The DR Congo international, who has long been admired for his work rate, attacking versatility, and ability to operate across the front line, remains focused on securing a project that aligns with both his career ambitions and personal goals.
As negotiations continue, all eyes are on whether Gençlerbirliği’s offer will be enough to convince Akolo to make the move to Türkiye—or whether another suitor from Belgium will step in with a more enticing proposal.
Either way, the forward’s next chapter appears set to unfold on a new European stage.
