Congolese attacker Silas Katompa Mvumpa is set to stay with VfB Stuttgart in the 2025/26 football season despite interest from a lot of clubs in Turkey.
A transfer had seemed likely, with Stuttgart reportedly open to offloading the 26-year-old to ease financial pressure.
Clubs such as Fenerbahce and Samsunspor were linked with the player, and a fee in the region of €8 million was discussed. However, talks failed to materialise into a concrete deal.
Silas’s agent, Memet Eser, confirmed the player’s decision to remain in Germany.
“We’re staying! Silas will give his best in training and hope that this will be recognized,” the agent told BILD.
This is not the first time a transfer has fallen through for the pacey attacker. Last summer, Silas joined Serbian champions Red Star Belgrade on loan, but the club opted not to activate the €10 million purchase clause.
The decision was largely due to an ankle injury he sustained in March that derailed his form.
Now back at Stuttgart, Silas is determined to make the most of his opportunity and fight for his place under the club’s new plans.
He will hope to find his feet and hit top form early in the 2025/26 football season.
