The head coach of France, Didier Deschamps, has handed Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu his debut call-up to the senior national team.
Kalulu, who is of Congolese descent, could have opted to represent Congo at the senior national team level.
However, after playing for France at the U18 through to the Olympic team, he has decided to represent France, his country of birth.
His call-up comes after William Saliba picked up an injury at Arsenal, ruling him out of the upcoming Nations League semi-final clash against Spain on Thursday, June 5, at Stuttgart.
If France eliminates Spain, Les Bleus will face off with either Germany or Portugal in the finals on Sunday, June 8, in Munich.
For Pierra Kalulu, his debut call-up presents a fine opportunity to impress to establish himself as a mainstay in the France national team.
