The Congolese Football Federation (Fecofoot) is reportedly narrowing down its options for the successor to Kamel Djabbour. Pierre Lechantre, Patrice Neveu, and Henri Depireux, along with Denis Lavagne, were initially shortlisted from the 31 applicants who responded to the call for applications. The latest information suggests that Pierre Lechantre is gaining prominence among the candidates.
Pierre Lechantre brings significant experience in African football, having won the African Cup of Nations in 2000 with Cameroon and later coaching the Eagles of Mali from 2005 to 2006. Henri Depireux, a Belgian coach, has managed national teams such as Cameroon and DR Congo. Patrice Neveu, currently in charge of Mauritania, has qualified the team for the 2014 African Nations Championship.
While the final decision is yet to be announced, the chosen coach will have a dual mission: performing well in the upcoming CEMAC Cup in Gabon and the 2014 African Nations Championship in South Africa. Additionally, they will be tasked with leading the Congo national team through the qualification process for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
