OCL City emerged victorious in the 5th edition of the Congolese Ladies Cup on Wednesday, securing the title after defeating Bafana Bafana in the final with a scoreline of 3-2. The girls from Lubumbashi showcased their prowess on the field to claim the championship. In a classification match, Bana Mazembe secured the third-place position by defeating ASR de Mbuji-Mayi with a score of 1-0.
Pierre Museba, the coach from Lubumbashi, expressed his satisfaction at retaining the title, stating, “We have prepared accordingly since Lubumbashi to keep this title. I am very proud of my players. But it wasn’t easy. I only regret that there weren’t many clubs to measure us.”
The coach of Bafana Bafana acknowledged the defeat, citing challenges with a weakened defense due to some players being unwell. Mbuji wa Mbuji remarked, “I just lost. My problem is that I had a weakened defense because some of my players were sick. OCL City is our constant opponent in Lubumbashi,” as quoted by Radio Okapi.
