Congo: 28 Coaches Trained to Boost Women’s Football
Twenty-eight Congolese women’s football coaches are currently participating in a FIFA-organized training course aimed at revitalizing and promoting women’s football in the country. The program, which began on October 27 at the Ignié Technical Center in the Pool Department, is scheduled to run until November 31.
The training is being conducted by Azzedine Chih, a FIFA instructor from Algeria, and includes both theoretical lessons and practical workshops. Coaches are being trained in the technical and physical demands of the modern women’s game, with a focus on building capacity and improving coaching standards at all levels.
This initiative comes as part of a broader effort to reignite interest in women’s football in Congo, whose national women’s team, the Red Devils, last appeared in international competition at the 2006 African Women’s Championship.
The course is seen as a crucial step in the long-overdue process of reviving women’s football structures and creating opportunities for young female athletes in the country.
