Conference League: Moroccan youngster Samir El Mourabet scores to seal 2-1 win for Strasbourg against Crystal Palace

Moroccan youngster Samir El Mourabet was the hero for RC Strasbourg on Thursday night, scoring to seal a 2-1 win for the side against Crystal Palace in the Europa Conference League.

Crystal Palace drew first blood in the 35th minute when Jean-Philippe Mateta’s clever pass found Tyrick Mitchell inside the box, allowing him to finish precisely into the bottom right corner.

Strasbourg responded early in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Diego Moreira’s cross found Emmanuel Emegha, who calmly struck into the middle of the net to level the score at 1-1.

The decisive moment arrived in the 77th minute. El Mourabet reacted quickest to a loose ball in the box, stabbing it home to give Strasbourg the lead.

His timely finish proved to be the match-winner, sending the French side home with all three points.

The win leaves Strasbourg in second place in the Europa Conference League standings after Round 4 of the league phase matches.
