Marama Vahirua, a 33-year-old Polynesian footballer, has been selected to represent Tahiti in the Confederations Cup in Brazil. He is the only professional player in the Tahiti squad, which also includes players who participated in the surprise victory at the Oceania Nations Cup in June 2012. Vahirua, who played this season in Greece with Panthrakikos, has experience in various French clubs, including Nantes, Nice, Lorient, Monaco, and Nancy. Tahiti will face Nigeria, Spain, and Uruguay in Group B of the Confederations Cup.
