The president of the Comoros Football Federation, Kanizat Ibrahim, has secured a seat on the FIFA Council, surpassing competitors Lydia Nsekera and Isha Johansen in the election held during the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) Elective Congress in Cairo.
Ibrahim received 30 votes, 17 ahead of Nsekera and 23 more than Johansen of Sierra Leone.
At 50, Ibrahim has made significant strides in football administration. She previously served as the fifth vice president of CAF, becoming the first woman to hold this position.
Additionally, she chaired CAF’s organizing committee for women’s football.
Her election to the FIFA Council not only represents a personal achievement but also highlights the growing influence of Comoros in international football.
Ibrahim’s leadership is anticipated to bring fresh perspectives to the global football community, especially concerning the development and promotion of women’s football.
The election results underscore Ibrahim’s strong support within CAF and her commitment to advancing African football on the world stage.
