Comoros national team coach Stefano Cusin has named a 24-man squad for their upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Mali and Chad.
Among the selections, 18-year-old Aboubacar Ali Abdallah has earned his first call-up to the senior team.
Emerging talent joins the squad
The young midfielder, who came through the ranks at RC Strasbourg and currently plays in Portugal’s second division on loan at SCU Torreense, has impressed the coaching staff with his rapid development.
His inclusion highlights Cusin’s commitment to integrating promising new talent into the squad.
Comoros, currently leading Group I with nine points, will be aiming to maintain their strong position in the qualification race as they seek to reach their first-ever World Cup.
Key return and notable omissions
FC Nantes striker Adel Mahamoud makes his return to the national team following a long injury layoff.
However, El Fardou Ben Mohamed has been left out due to a lack of playing time since December, while Bendjaloud Youssouf has been omitted as a tactical decision by Cusin.
The squad will assemble on March 17 for a training camp ahead of their first match against Mali on March 20 at the Berkane Municipal Stadium in Morocco.
Five days later, Comoros will face Chad at the same venue, as the Maluzini Stadium has yet to receive approval from CAF to host international fixtures.
With a historic World Cup qualification within reach, the Coelacanths will be looking to build on their momentum in the upcoming fixtures.
