Como v Manchester United: Bryan Mbeumo starts as official Champions League line-ups confirmed
The starting line-ups have been announced for Como’s UEFA Champions League meeting with Manchester United, with Bryan Mbeumo selected as the visitors’ lone striker.
Amad Diallo and Carlos Baleba are both absent from the Manchester United squad for the third matchday fixture. Kick-off is scheduled in less than an hour.
Manchester United are seeking a response after losing on matchday two, while Como will also be aiming to return to winning ways. The Italian side impressed in their opening match before suffering defeat by Feyenoord.
Michael Carrick has opted for a system featuring one recognised forward, leaving Mbeumo with the responsibility of leading the attack against Como’s defence.
The Cameroon international will be supported by Bruno Fernandes, Matheus Cunha and Mont Mason. Fernandes captains the side, while Noussair Mazraoui and Harry Maguire are included in a four-man defensive line.
Manchester United’s starting XI is:
Lammens (goalkeeper), Mazraoui, De Light, Maguire, Diogo Dalot, Andrey Santos, Youri Tielmans, Mont Mason, Bruno Fernandes (captain), Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo.
For Como, Nico Paz, Da Cunha, Douvikas and Baturina provide the main attacking options. Assane Diao is not included on the match sheet.
Como’s starting XI is:
Butez (goalkeeper), Yan Couto, Ramon, Kempf, Valle, Perrone, Milla, Da Cunha (captain), Nico Paz, Baturina, Douvikas.
The fixture gives both teams the opportunity to strengthen their position after contrasting results in the previous round. Manchester United will look to the attacking combination behind Mbeumo, while Como’s forward players will attempt to trouble the visitors’ defence.
