Como sign Robert Sanchez and Moise Kean before transfer deadline

Como have completed the signings of Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez and Italy forward Moise Kean before the transfer window closes.

Sanchez joins the Italian club on a season-long loan from Chelsea. His departure follows Chelsea’s signing of Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa, which opened the way for the Spain international to leave Stamford Bridge.

The 27-year-old Sanchez moved to Chelsea in the summer of 2023 and spent three seasons with the club. He will now continue his career in Italy with Como, who have added him to their squad for a season in which they are competing in the Champions League for the first time in their history.

Como also announced the arrival of Kean from Fiorentina. The forward has joined on loan, with the club holding an option to make the transfer permanent.

Kean has played for Fiorentina since the summer of 2024. During his two seasons with the club, he scored 27 goals before moving to Como.

The two deals strengthen Como’s squad as they begin a significant campaign in both domestic and European football. Their start to the season has produced one draw and one win, leaving them with four points from their opening two matches.

Those results put Como eighth in the Serie A table at this stage of the campaign. The club’s first appearance in the Champions League adds further importance to the recruitment of Sanchez and Kean, with both players arriving before the transfer deadline.

Sanchez’s move also reflects changes to Chelsea’s goalkeeping options after Martinez joined the London club from Aston Villa. That signing allowed Sanchez to seek regular football elsewhere, with Como securing his services for the season.

Kean, meanwhile, arrives after an extended spell with Fiorentina in which he established himself as a regular source of goals. His record of 27 goals across the past two seasons is expected to add attacking strength to a Como side now balancing its Serie A campaign with its historic Champions League involvement.

The Italian club have therefore secured two loans before the market closes: Sanchez from Chelsea for one season, and Kean from Fiorentina with the possibility of a permanent deal. Both transfers form part of Como’s preparations for a season that has already begun with four points from two league matches.
