Como president Mirwan Suwarso says the club has no overwhelming expectations of Dele Alli as the former England international seeks to reignite his career in Serie A.
Alli, who is of Nigerian heritage through his father, joined the Italian side after a challenging spell in England that saw his influence fade at both Tottenham Hotspur and Everton.
He made his debut for Como earlier this year but was shown a red card in that game. Despite the setback, the club is firmly backing the midfielder to regain his rhythm on the pitch.
Alli’s move to Como is part of a broader rebuilding process at the club, which Suwarso has overseen since its rise from Serie D to Italy’s top flight.
“He had an injury, but if he returned to 60% it would be a triumph for everyone.
“We started in Serie D with 5 employees, now we are 200.
“What happens on the pitch depends a lot on the structure behind it. Next year we definitely want to improve the ranking, but we don’t like to communicate precise objectives.
“In the 80s, thanks to Mino Favini, Como had a great youth sector. Here we want to recreate something similar.”
