Como FC eyes Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro as key midfield reinforcement

Jean Daniel Akpa Akpro

Newly promoted Serie A side Como FC is reportedly targeting Ivorian midfielder Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro to strengthen their squad as they aim to secure their position in Italy’s top-flight league. The 31-year-old, who is currently under contract with Lazio until June 2025, has yet to feature in a single match this season, leaving him out of coach Marco Baroni’s plans.

According to reports from 225foot, Como FC has initiated talks to bring Akpa Akpro on board.

The midfielder spent last season on loan at AC Monza, but with his future at Lazio looking uncertain, the Italian club is keen to capitalize on the opportunity to sign him.

Como FC, led by coach Cesc Fabregas, is said to be actively pursuing the Ivorian midfielder, with Fabregas personally pushing for the transfer.

Akpa Akpro’s experience in Serie A, combined with his solid performances at both Lazio and Monza, has made him an attractive option for the club, which is seeking to bolster its ranks with seasoned players as it adapts to the challenges of competing in the Italian elite.

Sources suggest that the Toulouse-born midfielder is open to joining Como FC, with his representatives having reportedly reached an agreement on key aspects of the potential transfer.

The proposed deal is believed to involve a two-year contract with the option for a third year, highlighting the club’s long-term interest in the player.

Financially, Akpa Akpro earns an annual salary of €930,000 (604.5 million FCFA) at Lazio, with his current market value estimated at €1 million.

Como FC would likely have to match or negotiate terms close to these figures to secure his signature.

Should the transfer materialize, Akpa Akpro’s wealth of experience, both in Serie A and on the international stage, would provide a valuable boost to Como FC’s ambitions.

As they look to remain competitive in Italy’s top division, the club is counting on such key reinforcements to ensure they can hold their own against more established teams.

The transfer window remains open, and it remains to be seen whether Akpa Akpro will make the switch to Como FC, but the interest from both sides appears to be growing.

The midfielder could soon find himself donning the Como colors as the club continues its push to solidify its place in Serie A.
