Cody Gakpo hopes Liverpool form is start of ‘something beautiful’
Cody Gakpo believes Liverpool are starting to click at just the right time after their 5–2 win over West Ham at Anfield.
The Dutch forward was on the scoresheet and felt the performance underlined the team’s recent progress.
“It was a good afternoon,” Gakpo told Sky Sports, reflecting on a display built on intensity and set-piece efficiency. “It’s true, step by step we are getting a better team. Hopefully these last games are the start of something beautiful.”
He highlighted Liverpool’s work from dead-ball situations as a key factor, noting they “scored from three set pieces” and stressing that, even if the 5–2 scoreline looked comfortable, “the game was much closer than the end result” because West Ham are “a good side.”
Looking ahead, Gakpo stressed the importance of maintaining momentum with Liverpool still fighting on multiple fronts.
“We are coming to the end of the season. We are still in the Champions League, FA Cup and fighting for the top four,” he said, adding that making set pieces count in tight games “is very important” and something they had lacked earlier in the campaign.
