Cody Gakpo chasing Carabao Cup record ahead of Liverpool vs. Tottenham clash
Dutch forward of Ivorian descent, Cody Gakpo is on the verge of making history in the Carabao Cup as Liverpool prepares to take on Tottenham in the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final on Thursday.
The forward has been in scintillating form in this season’s competition, netting four goals so far. He is now just two goals away from surpassing Robbie Fowler’s long-standing club record of six goals in a single Carabao Cup campaign, set during the 2000-01 season.
Liverpool will battle Spurs for a spot in the final on February 6 at 20:00 CET, with Cody Gakpo aiming to etch his name into the club’s record books.
The Dutch international, who has Ivorian roots, has been a key attacking force for the Reds this season, registering 15 goals and five assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.
He has gradually become a top player for the Reds and is a key man in the team’s charge for not just the EFL Cup but the Premier League title as well.
