During the African zone qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup, midfielder Jean II Makoun of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon had to exit the match against the Knights of the Mediterranean of Libya. The player from Stade Rennes suffered an ankle injury following contact with Salama. Despite attempting to regain his position on the field, Makoun was ultimately forced to leave the game. He was replaced by Stephane M’Bia, a QPR member on loan to Sevilla FC, after just 20 minutes of play.
The Indomitable Lions headed into halftime with a goal from their defender Aurélien Chedjou, scored in the 42nd minute of the match.
