Tunisia’s hopes came to an end on Tuesday with a 3-1 defeat against Argentina in the round of 16 of the Cadet World Cup held in the United Arab Emirates.
Despite a boost in confidence after equalizing just before the end of the first period, with Haj Hassen responding to Ferreyra’s early goal for Argentina, the Aiglons de Carthage couldn’t maintain their momentum. The second period proved fatal for Ben Soltane’s team as they conceded a goal in the 55th minute. Attempting to make a comeback, Tunisia left space behind, allowing the young Argentines to score another goal. With a 3-1 lead, coach Mario Grondona made strategic substitutions to secure the score, and the match concluded with no further changes.
The defeat means Tunisia joins Morocco in exiting the competition, while Ivory Coast and Nigeria continue their journey into the quarter-finals.
