The qualification of Raja Casablanca for the Club World Cup final was met with widespread celebration and joy in Casablanca and across Morocco. Despite the cold weather, people of all ages and backgrounds took to the streets to express their happiness following Raja’s remarkable feat in defeating Ronaldinho and Atletico Mineiro in the semi-final.
The celebrations included young and old, men and women, who filled the cities’ streets, boulevards, and neighborhoods to celebrate the Green Devils’ achievement. While it’s not the final victory yet, the qualification is considered a fabulous feat for the club, especially as an invited team in the tournament hosted by Morocco.
Even King Mohammed VI joined in the celebration by congratulating the entire team through a phone call to Faouzi Benzarti. In Casablanca, the atmosphere was described as calm, peaceful, and almost like a ghost town at the start of the match. The initial excitement and traffic jams gave way to a serene ambiance reminiscent of the time of breaking the fast during Ramadan.
Raja Casablanca will now face Bayern Munich in the Club World Cup final, marking their second participation in the tournament after 13 years. Bayern Munich is considered the big favorites, having defeated the Chinese team Guangzhou Evergrande in the semi-finals.
