Arsenal legend Ian Wright has called on the club to extend Thomas Partey’s contract as the midfielder approaches the end of his current deal.
Partey’s initial five-year contract, signed in 2020, is set to expire this summer.
The 31-year-old Ghana has been linked with moves to various clubs across Europe and the Saudi Pro League, but Arsenal are reportedly still considering whether to offer him a renewal.
In a recent interview, Wright dismissed any hesitation over Partey’s future, emphasizing the midfielder’s value to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
“I don’t see why we should be thinking about it—there’s nothing to think about,” Wright said.
“Thomas Partey should be given another contract. It’s not easy to find a midfielder like Thomas.
“We don’t have many of them in the streets. He has shown that he deserves more and more,” he added.
Partey played a key role in Arsenal’s quarterfinal victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Although he missed the Gunners’ narrow 1-0 home loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the semifinal on Tuesday, he is expected to be available for the crucial return leg in Paris on Wednesday night.
