Club Africain begin their CAF Champions League campaign against Djoliba AC on Saturday, with the Tunisian side aiming to take control of their first-round preliminary tie at home.
The first leg will be played at the Stade olympique Hammadi Agrebi in Rades, Tunisia, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00 GMT. Supporters will be able to watch the match on CAF TV, Watania 1 in Tunisia and Diwan Sport in Tunisia.
Club Africain have made an ideal start to their domestic season, winning both of their opening two league matches. They will hope that early momentum can be carried into their continental campaign as they attempt to establish an advantage before the return fixture against the Malian club.
Djoliba also travel to Tunisia with confidence high after completing a historic domestic double. They were crowned champions of Mali before adding the 2026 Coupe du Mali to their honours at the end of May.
Their cup triumph came with a controlled 2-0 victory over FC Diarra, underlining the strong form that has taken Djoliba into the preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League.
Saturday’s meeting will be the ninth competitive encounter between the two sides in African club competitions. Club Africain have won four of the previous eight matches, while Djoliba AC have recorded two victories. The other two games ended in draws, giving the Tunisian side the historical edge according to data from Transfermarkt.
That record offers Club Africain encouragement, although the teams arrive at the tie in similarly positive positions. The home side will look to use the atmosphere and familiarity of the Stade olympique Hammadi Agrebi to impose themselves, while Djoliba will be seeking a result that leaves them well placed ahead of the second leg.
Club Africain are regarded as the favourites for the opening match. Their advantage comes not only from playing in front of their home supporters, but also from their greater experience of major African fixtures, according to the preview.
There is little to separate the clubs on current form, however. Club Africain have won both league games they have played this season, while Djoliba’s domestic double has provided them with a strong platform before their continental return.
The match is therefore expected to be closely contested, with Club Africain looking to turn possession of home advantage into a lead and Djoliba attempting to take a valuable result back to Mali.
