Club Africain Miss Out on Nabil Maâloul as Kuwaiti FA Blocks Move
Club Africain will have to look elsewhere for a new head coach after Nabil Maâloul was blocked from leaving his current post with the Kuwaiti national team. Despite being widely reported as the frontrunner to replace Daniel Sanchez at the Tunisian club, Maâloul will not be making the move to Tunis.
The Kuwaiti Football Association refused to release the former Tunisia coach, citing the imminent start of the 2018 World Cup Asian qualifiers. With qualification campaigns set to begin, the federation deemed Maâloul’s continued presence essential and turned down Club Africain’s interest.
This development forces Club Africain to revisit their shortlist of potential candidates. Among the names being considered is Sami Trabelsi, a former Tunisian international and current coach with Gulf region experience. His name has been frequently linked with the post and he is now seen as a leading option.
Club Africain are seeking a swift appointment as they aim to stabilize their technical bench following a disappointing run under Daniel Sanchez.
