The 23rd round of Ligue 1 saw significant movement in the league standings as Club Africain and Espérance de Zarzis clinched narrow victories, while Club Sportif Sfaxien and US Monastirienne played out a tense goalless draw.

With just a few matches remaining in the season, the battle for European spots and the league podium is intensifying.

Club Africain edges US Tataouine with early goal

At the Rades Stadium, Club Africain secured a crucial 1-0 victory over US Tataouine, thanks to an early strike from Ali Youssef in the 5th minute.

The Tunisian midfielder capitalized on a defensive lapse to slot home the decisive goal, ensuring the Red and Whites remained in contention for a top-three finish.

The match saw both goalkeepers, Ghaith Yefreni and Slim Rebai, put in solid performances, making several key saves to keep the scoreline close.

However, US Tataouine was unable to break through Club Africain’s well-organized defense, leaving them empty-handed.

With this result, Club Africain moves up to 4th place with 46 points, maintaining pressure on US Monastirienne and Étoile du Sahel in the fight for a European qualification spot.

Goalless draw between Club Sportif Sfaxien and US Monastirienne

Over at the Taïeb Mhiri Stadium, Club Sportif Sfaxien and US Monastirienne played out a 0-0 stalemate, a result that left both sides frustrated.

The match was marked by a controversial moment in the 32nd minute when Sfaxien’s coach, Lassaad Dridi, was sent off, leaving his team without a tactical leader on the bench.

Despite periods of dominance from both sides, neither team could find the breakthrough.

For US Monastirienne, the draw keeps them third in the standings with 47 points, while Club Sportif Sfaxien remains in 7th place with 32 points, struggling to break into the upper half of the table.

Espérance de Zarzis continues strong form against Olympique de Béja

Espérance de Zarzis continued their push for a higher league finish with a 1-0 victory over Olympique de Béja.

The match’s only goal came from Houssem Ben Romdhane in the 32nd minute, securing three crucial points for the home side.

With this win, ES Zarzis climbs to 5th place with 44 points, staying in the hunt for a potential top-three finish.

Olympique de Béja, however, remains in 9th place with 28 points, struggling to find consistency in the latter stages of the season.
