The Tunisian football championship for the 2013-2014 season is set to kick off on September 15, but one notable absence will be Ammar Jemal, a 29-year-old defender.
Ammar Jemal is leaving the Tunisian Ligue 1 after a challenging semester with Club Africain de Tunis, where he participated in only four matches. The former Ajaccio player has been loaned for the season to Al-Fateh, the reigning champion in Saudi Arabia.
Despite his earlier successes, including being a champion of Tunisia in 2007 and winning the CAF Cup with Etoile Sportive du Sahel in the same year, the Tunisian international has faced a career downturn since his time in Cologne (Bundesliga, 2011-2012) under the management of his compatriot Fahti Jebal. Ammar Jemal is now aiming to revive his career and regain form in the new season with Al-Fateh.
