Clinton Njié Named Lyon’s Player of the Month After Stellar April
Cameroonian forward Clinton Njié has been recognised for his outstanding form in April by being voted Olympique Lyonnais’ Player of the Month, decisively winning the club’s official fan poll.
According to a statement published on Lyon’s website, Njié received an overwhelming 61% of the votes, far ahead of teammates Corentin Tolisso (16%) and Nabil Fekir (11%). The accolade comes as no surprise given the 21-year-old’s impact during a crucial stage in Lyon’s pursuit of the Ligue 1 title.
Njié was a starter in all four of Lyon’s fixtures in April, producing an impressive return of three goals and two assists, while also registering 10 shots on target. His pace, dribbling, and clinical finishing have made him one of the most dynamic attacking threats in Ligue 1 in recent weeks.
Unfortunately, the Cameroonian international picked up an injury in the recent win over Evian TG, but early assessments suggest he should be fit to return in time for the season’s final run-in, as Lyon chase down leaders Paris Saint-Germain in the title race.
Njié’s performances have not only won the hearts of Lyon fans but also raised interest from several European clubs. With his confidence soaring and fitness likely to return soon, Lyon will be counting on their April talisman to help deliver a strong finish to their campaign.
