Cleo Ssetuba: Uganda goalkeeper leaves AFC Leopards and becomes free agent in 2026 move

Uganda goalkeeper Cleo Ssetuba has left Kenyan side AFC Leopards and become a free agent after his departure was confirmed on 26 July 2026.

The 29-year-old, born in Entebbe and standing at 1.90m, exits the Kenyan club to continue his career without a team for the first time since turning professional. The move marks a significant change of direction for the right-footed goalkeeper, who had been on the books of AFC Leopards ahead of the new campaign.

Ssetuba’s switch into free agency comes at an age when many goalkeepers are regarded as approaching their peak years. His availability on the open market gives clubs the chance to sign an experienced, international-level shot-stopper without negotiating a transfer fee.

Primarily used as a goalkeeper throughout his career, Ssetuba adds height and presence in the penalty area, attributes that have underpinned his development from Entebbe to club football in East Africa.
