Gabonese international Clench Loufilou has taken the next step in his football journey, signing with Iraqi Premier Division side Al Mina’a. The 25-year-old defensive midfielder inked a one-year contract on Monday, August 5, following the expiration of his deal with US Tataouine.

Loufilou, who has already played for four different clubs in his professional career, now adds Al Mina’a to his resume.

His move to the Basra-based team, which finished 12th in the Iraqi Premier Division last season, is seen as a strategic effort to leverage his defensive prowess and help his new club rise in the standings during the 2024-2025 season.

Having made a name for himself during the 2018 and 2019 seasons with AS Mangasport in Gabon, where he played a crucial role in winning the national championship and the National Cup, Loufilou’s career trajectory since then has been less stellar.

Despite these initial successes, his stints abroad have been marked by challenges and unmet expectations.

A Promising Start at AS Mangasport

Loufilou burst onto the professional scene with AS Mangasport, where his performances in the 2018 and 2019 seasons drew significant attention.

His contributions were pivotal in the team securing both the Gabonese Championship and the National Cup.

These achievements positioned him as a promising talent and earned him a move to Europe with AC Ajaccio in France.

Struggles Abroad

However, Loufilou’s career in Europe did not unfold as hoped. His time at AC Ajaccio, followed by moves to Sur Sport Center in Oman and US Tataouine in Tunisia, saw him struggling to establish himself as a key player.

Despite the unwavering support of Gabon national team coach Thierry Mouyouma, Loufilou has yet to replicate his early domestic success on the international stage.

A Fresh Start with Al Mina’a

Signing with Al Mina’a represents a new opportunity for Loufilou to revitalize his career.

The club, seeking to improve on their mid-table finish last season, will look to Loufilou to provide the defensive stability and leadership needed to climb the ranks in the Iraqi Premier Division.

Loufilou’s arrival at Al Mina’a is not just a move for the player but also a strategic acquisition for the club.

With his experience and skills, Loufilou could be the key to transforming the team’s fortunes in the upcoming season.

As he embarks on this new chapter, Loufilou will aim to rediscover the form that once made him one of Gabon’s most promising football talents.

The coming season will be crucial for him to demonstrate his abilities and potentially reignite his international career.

A Hope for International Recognition

Loufilou’s journey reflects the unpredictable nature of a football career, with its highs and lows.

His move to Al Mina’a offers a fresh start and a chance to make a significant impact in a new league.

For the 25-year-old midfielder, this could be the opportunity to regain his confidence and showcase his talent on a larger stage, possibly setting the stage for further international recognition.
