Claud Adjapong: Catania eye move for Potenza right-back

Italian-Ghanaian defender Claud Adjapong of Potenza is being linked with a move to Serie C rivals Catania as the Sicilian club look to reinforce the right side of their defence.

Adjapong, 28, is under contract with Potenza until 30 June 2027 but his future has come into focus after a strong campaign in Serie C Group C, where he helped the Lucanian side to silverware by winning the Italian Serie C Cup in the 2025-26 season. His current market value is estimated at around €225,000, a figure that could make a deal accessible for Catania if they decide to formalise their interest.

The right-back joined Potenza from Ascoli on a free transfer in July 2025 and has brought extensive experience from the upper tiers of Italian football. He has made 37 appearances in Serie A and a further 78 in Serie B, as well as featuring in European competition with three outings in the Europa League earlier in his career.

Born in Modena and standing at 1.80m, Adjapong has represented several clubs across the Italian pyramid, operating primarily as a right-back and favouring his right foot. His attacking contributions from deeper positions were first evident at youth level, where he impressed in the Primavera competitions and won the Viareggio tournament in 2016-17.

For now, Adjapong remains a Potenza player with a year left to run after the coming season on his deal, leaving the Serie C club in a strong position should Catania decide to test their resolve.
