Clarence Seedorf has described becoming manager of Brazilian club Corinthians as an opportunity that “does not come every day” after being appointed to lead the team.
The former Netherlands international said the role represented a major challenge at one of the world’s biggest clubs, while highlighting the potential within the squad.
“Managing Corinthians is a great opportunity for me,” Seedorf said at a news conference. “It is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and opportunities like this do not come every day. There are many talented players in the team.”
Seedorf also said he and his staff would have time to assess their opponents and work towards delivering results for the club’s supporters.
“We will have time to analyse the opposition, and we will try to give our best to make the fans of this great club happy,” he added.
The appointment makes Seedorf Corinthians’ fourth manager of the current season. The club had previously been led by Dorival Junior, Fernando Diniz and William Batista.
Seedorf’s most recent coaching role ended in 2019, when he was in charge of the Cameroon national team. He oversaw 12 matches during that spell, recording four wins, five draws and three defeats.
Corinthians are currently 16th in the Brazilian league table, with 32 points from 29 matches. Their record consists of eight victories, eight draws and 13 losses.
