Zulte Waregem Midfielder Chuks Aneke Sidelined Following Meniscus Surgery
Bad news for Chuks Aneke, the young Nigerian-born English midfielder of Zulte Waregem, who has suffered a serious injury blow early in the season. After establishing himself as a starter in the opening matches of his second year with the Belgian club, Aneke has been forced to the sidelines.
The club confirmed on its official website that the 22-year-old underwent surgery on Wednesday for a torn meniscus, an injury that will see him miss the upcoming matches against Club Brugge and KV Oostende.
Aneke had started the first three league games of the season, impressing with his performances in midfield. His only absence before this setback was during the fixture against Waasland-Beveren, which he missed due to the same knee issue that has now required surgical intervention.
Zulte Waregem will now have to cope without one of their promising midfielders for a key stretch of fixtures, as Aneke begins his rehabilitation. The club has not provided an exact timeline for his return.
