Christopher Katongo, the captain of the Chipolopolo, has expressed his intention to remain in China despite his club, Henan Jienye, being relegated to the Chinese second division. Despite the setback, Katongo is committed to fulfilling his contract, stating, “We went down, but I’m going back to China. I have 10 months of a contract with my club, and I am not complaining about not playing in the first division.”
Katongo, who plays alongside his compatriot Isaac Chansa at Henan Jienye, was initially rumored to retire from the national team after Zambia’s early exit from the 2013 AFCON group matches. However, he clarified that he still holds the position of captain for Zambia.
